Day of Mourning

April 28, 2025

Today, workplaces in Canada will come together to observe the National Day of Mourning, a day dedicated to honouring workers who have lost their lives, suffered injuries, or experienced an illness due to a work-related incident. It is also a day to renew our commitment to improving health and safety in the workplace and to preventing further injuries, illnesses, and deaths.

Tree Island Steel observes the National Day of Mourning on April 28th by:

• Laying wreaths at our Richmond location and at Jack Poole Plaza in downtown Vancouver

• Pausing for a moment of silence at 11:00am on Monday, April 28

• Raising awareness of the event through crew talks

• Encouraging Tree Island Steel employees to wear Day of Mourning decals
